Thinking in Public

The practice of sharing unfinished thoughts openly.

There’s value in sharing ideas before they’re fully formed. It invites collaboration, surfaces blind spots, and creates accountability to develop thoughts further.

The digital garden model encourages this, as I describe in my own experience building one by making the maturity of each piece visible. Readers know when something is a draft versus a finished argument.

This is the opposite of the traditional academic model, where ideas are only shared after extensive peer review.
